A word that everyone knows but no one dares to speak aloud
Sometimes I think about death I sit in a dark corner of a party pondering its definition Is it the ending of our existence or the beginning of our freedom Is that why you crave to make yourself free? Does life resemble that much of a prison cell that you have to plan your escape, fork and spoon in hand? Does the world seem dark enough to make the light at the end of the tunnel seem so seductive? I am unsure But one thing I do know about death is that it is forever The things that remain are memories, guilt, love, heartache, anger There is no redemption in death The people you leave behind are still here The things you’ll never get to experience will still happen The love you abandon will always feel empty Yes, the world will continue on without you but you will not be there to see it Please, stay If you can’t stay for yourself Stay for the summer nights around a bonfire Stay for the sunrises Stay for the late night conspiracies Stay for the road trips Stay for the music, for the movies, for the books Stay, so that the world does not have to continue on without you Stay, because I may not be able to continue on without you.
