Gaia by Andrew Jones
Paragraph 1: Introductions
Earth, Earth is a place of life, of war, and of love, in the year 2050 after humanities’ habits were left unchecked, unchanged, and unwatched, the ice caps perished, the world grew warmer, grew more flooded, and an intense storm could always appear out of nowhere. The Earth’s first race humanity survived, as we always have, but among the new stormy waters a new hyper intelligent race of marine life, known as Seaform appeared. At first, they were peaceful but when they discovered we did the atrocities to the ocean, they salvaged old tech and viciously attacked any and all humans on sight. This led to the Gaia-Poseidon wars, a series of conflicts that began in 2075 and ended in 2175, but the war couldn’t end without the strings of fate pulling together love out of the Princess Liara of Seaform, and the war hero Piko Mayo of humanity. These two always found love in the battle of Mariana, where we begin the tale...
Paragraph 2: Curiosity
Liara became restless, like she always did when worrying about the war, her beautiful hair glistened and gleamed in the bioluminescent lamps of her room. She paced with her skinny webbed feet, her webbed fingers fidgeting, she thought to herself on how to end the war but could think of no answers. Piko always found trouble, as the 50th wave of this three-month never-ending battle came in his platoon held its ground; Since he lost his family, he had nothing to lose and only victory to gain. Piko always dreamed of finding love, but now he dreams of only winning this unwinnable war. As he fought his blonde hair glistened under the bioluminescent light, their rifle shots near in sync, Piko ordered the most tired to run back to the underwater fortress and send in the other platoons while he ordered the rest to stay light footed, charge in waves, and keep charging. All the while Liara figured it out all she had to do was negotiate peace between the humans and the war would end her people saved, just along with theirs. She left a dummy in her rest bubble, and fled the safety of her castle, to the inky blood-stained abyss of the battle of Mariana.
Paragraph 3: Dream
Liara excited, tired, but excited, swam forth, she knew if she were seen by one of her people she would be taken back to her palace, so she had to stealth swim. She moved swiftly, silently, and successfully. Piko was in the middle of a meal when two of his soldiers came in and told him the Princess was captured, his fork dropped and he wished he could scream the war is over, but he knew it wasn’t. Liara tried to communicate with Piko, and he tried the same, but it didn’t work. Another month went by when Piko started to teach her English. Liara learned fast and thus her first sentence was “do you wish to learn my language, now that I know yours?”, Piko nodded and as they taught each other, they grew attached, and their attachment turned into something brighter- love. Though they didn’t know it, or just didn’t admit it, they were in love, the negotiations began and Piko and her made an agreement. He would attempt to make negotiations and would set her free. They both knew the risk, he could be taken and killed, though for her he was willing to take that risk, not only for the thousands of miserable soldiers fighting, but for her as well. However, when he arrived with the Princess arms locked, her people deceived him. They took him to a supposed “negotiation” chamber when he was captured. Deception was Piko’s first thought, but he noticed that she, she was crying on her knees as they took him, it was then he knew that not only he was in love, but her too.
Paragraph 4: Finale
As the prison guard changed shifts Liara came in to visit him, for only one last time; She found his key and before he could get up, the Night of Union began. When morning rose, the executioner opened the door to find the Princess guarding her love, speaking of how this isn’t the road to peace. When Piko rose, he agreed, but not in his tongue, he spoke in her tongue, together they changed the mind of the executioner, but not the King. They spoke of how peace was possible to a man who lost everything but his daughter to humanity, and in that Piko spoke of how he was, of who he was, they were the same in the fact that they both lost everything to the other. The king not only heard his words but listened to his words, and then spoke in English, “do you love her?”, both were shocked by his fluent English, and Piko spoke in Seaformian, “I do with every beat of my heart and with every thought in my mind”. The king rose, stared down at them, and said in the voice of a King, “then you may be together and the Seaformians will support peace”. Almost 12 months later the new Seaformian heir was born. Humanity then seeing the heir, seeing the love, agreed to peace, and then my father and mother had another child, the hybrid author, me, Gaia, the daughter of the true King and Queen of the Seamanity alliance, and that is the story.
