The gravel and sand on my bare feet felt familiar and pleasant. I smelled the rain impending and the wind swallowing me. For a split second, I was neglecting everyone and everything. I watched the waves grow larger with a blank expression on my face; my emotionless state was awoken to a raindrop hitting my face. I glanced up at the sky and watched the clouds roll over my head; as I looked down to cover my face from the rain I noticed the flowers in the water being hit with raindrops. They didn't look peaceful anymore nor did the people around me; although, they were not at peace in the first place.
I knew some of them, many I didn't, everyone seemed to look down at me with a sorry look on their face. Looking up at all the sad faces caused tears to fall on my cheeks. My mom picked me up and held me as she sobbed, her curly blonde hair wrapped in my hands as I buried my face into her neck and cried. Looking back I'm not sure if I knew why I was crying. My short hair moved through the wind and everything fell silent. Time passing around me almost felt like slow motion. The warmth of the sun began hitting my back and I picked my head up to the noises of the gasps, awes, and cries from the strangers and family members around me. I shifted my body to turn my head into the direction of where everyone was standing. The sight was breathtaking, the atmosphere changed, and I felt the sadness being lifted. People were crying but not of sadness anymore, they were crying at the beauty and love. The sky was as blue as the ocean and in the middle was a band of color. At that moment I knew it would be okay. I felt hope. I knew he would be watching over me forever.
